The only stud farm in Ireland open to the public offering daily tours. On the grounds is the world famous Japanese Gardens. The significance of the Japanese Gardens is not only artistic and horticultural, but also philosophical.
Children enjoy taking part in a nature trial in this garden, identifying trees, learning about swan life and the ages of trees. From horse to horticulture, the Irish National Stud offers a unique experience that can be enjoyed at your leisure, or as part of a guided tour.
Facilities include, toilets, including toilets for the disabled, a baby changing room, picnic area, four acres of woodland walks, free car and coach parking and self service restaurant, where you can have a light lunch, morning coffee or afternoon tea. Daily guided tours of stud.
Over the years a horse museum was built where the skeleton the of the legendary Arkle stands along with many horse artifacts. To celebrate the Millennium, another garden was added, St. Fiachra's Garden and it opens up a different, yet satisfying experience.
Situated off the M7 motorway, Exit 13 towards Nurney on the opposide side of Kildare Village shopping outlet and 1 mile outside the historical Kildare town with its cathedral, round tower and heritage centre. Also close by is the Curragh Racecourse, military museum and Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park, so there is a great variety to see and places to visit within a 10 mile radius.
