Mon 01 Jan 2007Energy concerns and Kosovo dominate talksRussia:The future status of Kosovo and Russia's reliability as an energy partner for Europe dominated discussions between Russian president Vladimir Putin and German chancellor Angela Merkel last night.At the first meeting between Ms Merkel and Mr Putin since Germany took over the EU's rotating presidency and the chairmanship of the G8 group this month, the chancellor suggested the creation of a new early warning system to prevent future energy shutdowns between Europe and Russia.
