Fri 07 Jul 2006Arab regimes sharply critical of HizbullahPro-western Arab governments have sharply criticised Hizbullah for provoking Israel's onslaught on Lebanon.Far from backing the Lebanese militia's attempt to take the fight to the Arab world's traditional enemy, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Gulf states - but not Syria -- this week jointly condemned the group's "irresponsible and unacceptable acts". Their stand has come as a welcome surprise to Israel and its US backers.
