UCD went into the game without the services of suspended striker Paul Byrne, and for the most part played second fiddle to Sligo in the first half despite starting well with Alan McNally heading over from Brian King's cross on 12 minutes.
However, Sligo dominated for much of the half with Matthew Judge's chip from the edge of the box well held by Matt Gregg on 18 minutes.
Theycontinued the second half in the same vein but suffered a scare on 58 minutes when Conor Kenna and Brian King came close with consecutive efforts.
