Eamon Ward had pointed inside the first minute for Rock before Paul Healy levelled proceedings. And although Canovee centre forward Pat Dunlea hit three successive wides, Kevin Walsh put the Cork men in front with a point.
Paul Healy added his second point of the game before Walsh goaled on 27 minutes. Canovee added two points in injury-time from Walsh and Denis O'Sullivan to lead 1-5 to 0-1 at the interval.
Dunlea stretched Canovee's lead to eight points after the break to effectively end the game as a contest.
