Wed 07 Jul 2007Sports DigestTwelve athletes on new scheme named Twelve of Ireland's most promising athletes will benefit from an ESB-sponsorship support scheme, details of which were announced by Athletics Ireland yesterday, writes Ian O'Riordan.The group consists of four emerging seniors, four under-23 athletes, and four juniors and features recent Irish 100-metre record breaker Paul Hession and European under-23 cross-county silver medallist Fionnuala Britton. Other senior athletes included are 400-metre runner Joanne Cuddihy of UCD and 5,000 metre runner Mary Cullen of North Sligo.
