On the altered course, due to ongoing development, the St Margaret's professional shot a five-under-par 63 to beat the field by three shots in difficult conditions of wind and rain in an event sponsored by Fáilte Ireland and Ryder Cup Ltd. Jude Doyle from St Anne's took second place to Kelly in the nett with 66 from Daragh Curran (St Anne's) while Willie Leggett (The Island), Frank Leonard (Knightbrook) and Damien McKiernan (Christy O'Connor) all finished on 71. p

  • Ireland blow great chance

    CRICKET: Ireland blew a great chance for a shock win over South Africa after slumping to a 35-run defeat in their World Cup warm-up match at the Sir Frank Worrell grounds yesterday. Set 193, Ireland appeared cruising to victory at 139 for four with 14 overs remaining, but collapsed dramatically to be all out for 157. p
