Apart-hotel and student homes for D8 site
A SUBSIDIARY OF the Ely Property Group is seeking planning permission from Dublin City Council to build a five to seven-storey apart-hotel and student accommodation on a site which is bounded by Cork Street and Brickfield Lane in Dublin 8.
The five to seven-storey 4,861sq m (52,323sq ft) development will include two retail units at ground floor level, 30 apart- hotel units, 88 student accommodation units, and office and science and technology floor space.
The apart-hotel element would be located from the third to sixth floors and would have a café, laundry, and CCTV room while the offices would be at first and second floor.
The student accommodation would be provided in clusters. There would also be 494sq m (5,317sq ft) of communal open space.
Council says yes to scheme in Blackrock
AFTER A LONG running planning saga dating back to 2003, developer John O'Connor has been granted planning permission by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for a development of 24 apartments at Ferndene on Deansgrange Road, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
The house, which will be converted into two apartments, was formerly owned by Frank Cruess-Callaghan. He has had a long association with Waterford Stanley and also tried (unsuccessfully) to get planning permission for a residential development on the site and subsequently sold it to O'Connor.
The other apartments will be built in a new block.
It remains to be seen whether An Bord Pleanála will approve the scheme, should it be appealed.
