      The first phase of the Courts Service's one-year pilot project on reporting family law has ended with the publication of Dr Carol Coulter's report. She was appointed last year to compile reports on family law proceedings and to gather, assess and present meaningful statistics on these cases for the first time. p
    • Binge drinking

      Ireland's heavy alcohol consumption and record binge drinking are graphically recorded in an excellent report on their health-related consequences published yesterday by the Health Research Board. We have known for some time that levels of drinking increased substantially over the last decade or so, bringing Ireland towards the top of EU listings - and the ranking would be higher if the comparatively large number of abstainers were taken into account. p
