HDs to get seven-speed gearbox American transmission manufacturers, Baker, have reportedly built a prototype seven-speed gearbox called the Baker DD7.

Although nothing official has been announced yet, it is possibly a replacement for the six-speed Cruise Drive unit. The new transmission would feature a shorter first gear, a mainshaft that incorporates only first gear, smoother shifting and more refined helical gears. It should be out sometime in 2009.

Alpinestars gets new trendy look

Alpinestars, one of the world's biggest motorcycle gear manufacturers, has unveiled a range of motorcycle jackets and boots designed for the "urban rider". The new range of Nero clothing is aimed at riders who use their bikes to get around town but aren't necessarily getting the knee down at weekends.

Dublin Harley moves premises

Dublin Harley-Davidson celebrated the launch of its new, custom-built facility over the weekend with a three-day party. It is located on the corner of the Turnpike Road and Robin Hood Road close to the Red Cow Roundabout. Three new models were unveiled and the inaugural HOG Gaelic Chapter "Ride Out" was held.
