The Galway International Arts Festival for Children, Baboró starts Monday (until the the 21st) and includes dance, theatre, visual arts, puppetry and music aimed at a pre-teen audience. Highlights include Baby Rave for 0 to 4 year olds, complete with live DJ and dance instructors; a junkyard percussion performance called Kling Klang and an interactive magic carpet called the Japanese Garden. 091-569777. At the RDS, Dublin, today and tomorrow, the Senior Times Over 50s Show is billed as a lifestyle event for older people and offers advice on computers and the internet, food sampling, golf lessons, bridge tuition, travel advice, health checks as well as music from Opera Ireland. Music

Heineken Green Synergy returns to Dublin from Wednesday (until Sunday, 14th) with a cracking line-up. Highlights include Alex Patterson (The Orb) and Don Letts Dub Cartel at Anseo; Asian Dub Foundation, Broken Social Scene presents Kevin Drew and Turin Breaks at Tripod; and Youngblood Brass Band at Whelans. www.heinekenmusic.ie. The Irish Chamber Orchestra under Anthony Marwood commence their 07-08 Season performing four concerts with German clarinettist Jörg Widmann. The first three take place in Ireland this week: the National Concert Hall, Dublin on Thursday; CIT, Cork on Friday and University Concert Hall, Limerick on Saturday. Theatre

Jim Nolan's new play Sky Road premieres at the Theatre Royal, Waterford this weekend and runs until Saturday 20th. Starring Barry McGovern, Marion O'Dwyer and Keith McErlean, it tells the story of an ambitious politician concealing a secret. Booking 051-874402. Film

The Corona Cork Film Festival starts tomorrow and runs until October 21st. The festival opens with Joel and Ethan Coen's No Country For Old Men and closes with Ang Lee's Lust, Caution . The AIB Polish Film Festival sees the IFI in Dublin screening 20 feature-length Polish films including the 1984 Polish cult classic, Seksmisja and Jan Jakub Kolski's Jasminum . Finishes Sunday 21st. Apparently Steve Staunton's Euro 2008 campaign is now all about building for the World Cup - Germany are the first of this week's visitors to Croke Park for a 7.45pm kick-off this evening, followed on Wednesday at 7.30pm by Cyprus.
