The total projected bed requirement for the hospital is between 352 and 454 beds.
All beds should be in single ensuite rooms.
Rooms should have space for parents to stay overnight.
There should be 20 theatres for operations and procedures.
The overall space required for the new hospital is 90,200sq metres. When research facilities and parents accommodation are added, the space required is 103,600sq metres. If a maternity hospital was built on the site, it would bring space requirements to 118,600sq metres. And the Mater site has a development area of 140,000sq metres.
