Wed 12 Dec 2006Code of Practice: for newspapers and periodicalsThe following Code of Practice, prepared by the Press Industry Code Committee (which was attached to the Press Industry Steering Committee), is intended as work in progress and it is expected that it will continue to evolve in light of experience and in response to changes in public opinion and perceptions.It will form the basis for adjudications by the proposed Ombudsman and Press Council for Irish newspapers and periodicals. It comprises elements from the code of practice of the British Press Complaints Commission, the statement of principles of the Australian Press Council, and the publishing principles of the German Press Council.
