Thu 05 May 2004O Cuiv tells EU meeting about cohesion policyThe disparities between and within richer and poorer EU member-states must be eliminated if real territorial cohesion is to be achieved, the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr Ó Cuív, told a major EU presidency conference in Galway yesterday.Devising and putting in place the economic and social infrastructure required to support the right of people to a sufficient standard of living while remaining in their native environment was a key challenge that cohesion and rural development policies must address, the Minister said.
