boomChristmas came early for the owners of Ireland's largest chain
of toy shops. The four brothers behind Galway-based retail chain
Smyths Toys were paid management fees of more than €14.1
million last year, according to the company's accounts.The payment was made to Kadsura, a company controlled by the
Smyth family, and served to knock a sizeable hole in the profits of
the company which had sales of €185 million in the 12 months
to the end of March last year. Its operating profit was €5.9
million.
