Fri 05 May 2006Homophobic bullying rife in schools, survey findsHomophobic bullying is a prevalent problem in second-level Irish schools, according to a report published today, writes Áine Kerr.The survey of 364 teachers found almost 80 per cent were aware of instances of verbal bullying where homophobic terms were used. Some 16 per cent reported instances of physical bullying as a result of students perceiving someone to be homosexual.
