fundsRetail sales volumes surged by 9.9 per cent in May compared to
May 2006, according to the latest figures from the CSO. There was a
monthly rise of 1.4 per cent from April.If motor trades are excluded, the annual increase was 9.1 per
cent and the monthly change was 2.2 per cent. By value, retail
sales rose by 10.6 per cent in May 2007 compared to the previous
May and by 1.5 per cent in the month.
