    21:50 There is “no chance” of a harmonised tax regime within the European Union being imposed on Ireland, EC president José Manuel Barroso has said.  In Dublin today, Mr Barroso said Irish voters had nothing to fear from the Lisbon Treaty, the deal signed by 27 member states in December. The president said he believed the treaty was “good for Europe and good for Ireland” but he was here to listen and not to tell people how to vote in the upcoming referendum set for June 12th.

Representatives from more than 50 affiliated unions met in Liberty Hall, Dublin this morning to discuss their strategy for the talks with employers and Government on pay and other issues.

  • NCA calls on Aer Lingus to honour '€5' US tickets

    12:46 Aer Lingus has been accused of breaching its contracts with over 100 would-be passengers who booked €5 seats to the US. The airline cancelled the bookings saying that the low fares had been made available in error. The National Consumer Agency called on Aer Lingus to honour the flights.
