Euro surrenders gains on rate call

The euro surrendered gains and was little changed versus the dollar this afternoon as European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet gave no fresh insight on the euro zone's inflation and growth outlook.

The euro traded flat at $1.5825, versus $1.5870 before the start of the ECB press conference at 1.30pm. It earlier touched a record peak of $1.5912.
