17:52 Zimbabwe's main opposition today claimed victory after a general election yesterday in which it claimed President Robert Mugabe attempted to rig the vote. Secretary General of the Movement for Democratic Change Tendai Biti said early results showed his party had won majorities in provinces across the country including Masvingo - traditionally a stronghold for Mr Mugabe's Zanu-PF party. A government spokesman later warned that premature claims would be seen as an attempted coup. "We all know how coups are handled," he told the state-owned Sunday Mail.
