Man treated for 'serious' head injury

A man in his mid 20s is being treated in hospital for a serious head injury following an incident at a party in Belmullet, Co Mayo.

Gardaí were called to a house at College Park, Logmore, at around 1.45am.

"On arrival, gardaí found one male Polish national in his mid 20s seriously injured. Ambulance personnel were already in attendance. The man was taken to where examination confirmed a serious head injury an he was consequently transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin," a Garda spokesman said.

A party was being held at the house at the time of the injuries were sustained but gardai have refused to comment further on their investigation.
