An man was killed today when his car left the road and crashed into a canal in Co Laois.
The 70-year-old was taken from the car in a stretch of the Grand Canal near Vickerstown, Portlaoise shortly after midday. Gardai said the car was lying submerged in the canal. The dead man was removed from the car and taken to Portlaoise Hospital.
