Police seek help tracing man's family

Police in Manchester have appealed for help tracing the relatives of an Irish-born man who died in the city last weekend.

Michael Scanlon (81) died at his home on Apprentice Court, Harpurhey, Manchester and police are trying to contact family members. "Michael's carer found him dead on Saturday March 16th, a Garda statement said.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious, but officers are struggling to locate any of his next of kin." Mr Scanlon is originally from Co Cork and police believe it is possible he has relatives there. He also has ties to London.

Anyone with any information, or who thinks they might know Mr Scanlon's relatives, is asked to contact police in Manchester on 0044 161 8563897.
