Glanbia sells pig-meat unit for €35m

Dairy products manufacturer Glanbia today said it will sell its pig-meat business to the unit's management team for €35 million.

The management team is led by chief executive Jim Hanley.

Glanbia said that an insurance payout from a fire at a meat-processing plant in Edenderry Co Offaly, last year was included in the payment.

Glanbia said it would take an exceptional loss of €20.5 million in connection with the sale. The company is focusing on cheese, ingredients, nutrition and consumer foods.
