North ambulance staff falsified records

Ambulance service staff falsified 123 emergency response time records in Northern Ireland last year, it emerged today.

Two staff members were suspended after it was discovered time sheets had been altered.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, which said the staff have been reinstated, said practices have been tightened up since the issue came to light.

The incidents related to calls fielded by the service's dispatch centre between April and November last year.

The service said although it did not condone any falsification, it noted the high-pressure environment that staff worked in.
