Dispute-lost days at record low in 2007
There were just 6,038 days lost to industrial disputes last year, according to data released today from the Central Statistics Office.
The figure, which compares to 7,352 in 2006, is the lowest annual total since records began in 1923.
Last year there were just six industrial disputes resulting in lost working days, compared with ten in 2006. In 2007 the days lost involved firms in the transport, storage and communication sectors.
In 2001 there were over 114,600 days lost, with 32,168 workers involved in disputes.
