Premium Email @ireland.comA 24-year-old man has been arrested and drugs worth over €320,000 were seized today following a planned search of a wooded area near Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.
Gardaí arrested the man following surveillance of the area on the outskirts of the town after a tip-off.
Up to 30,000 ecstasy tablets and 3 kilos of cannabis were recovered in the operation.
The man is currently being detained at Carrickmacross Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Meanwhile, another man is today being questioned by police after drugs, a gun and a sum of cash were seized in Co Antrim.
Police said the seizure was made after a planned search of a house at 9.50pm last night in Salia Avenue, Carrickfergus.
A 26-year-old man was arrested and is now helping police with their inquiries.
It is believed the drugs may include a quantity of cocaine and cannabis.
