The man will appear before magistrates in Belfast today charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.
The charges relate to eight searches which were conducted on Friday in west Belfast and Co Fermanangh by members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland's serious crime department with the help of uniformed officers.
A man and woman who were also arrested were released without charge.
The PSNI said charges would be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
