Teen hurt in apparent sword attack

A teenage boy was recovering today after being injured in an apparent sword attack.

The youth was set upon by a man on waste ground in the Togher area of Cork city in the early hours of this morning.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment but his injuries are not life threatening.

It is understood the teenager was standing with a group of friends when he was attacked. Gardaí said he suffered a number of wounds but no weapon has been recovered.
