Garda arrests 374 'drink drivers'

Some 374 alleged drink-driving incidents were recorded by the Garda in one week, new figures show.

In a statement, the Garda said provisional statistics indicate that during the seven-day period from the November 27th to December 4th inclusive, 374 drink-driving incidents were recorded compared to 396 the previous week. "Garda enforcement activities in this area of road safety will continue to be prioritised," the statement added.

The Garda will shortly commence its Christmas road safety campaign, building on recent random breath testing checkpoints for motorists.
