Colour Management:
  • Below are three options for you to colour manage and transfer your files using Quickcut. If the success of your advertisement is colour critical, we strongly recommend options one or two.
  • Option 1. When you choose The Irish Times as a publisher, a web link is available in Quickprint which brings you to a step-by-step guide on how to colour manage images using our profile. When using this option please refer to the document Colour Managing Your Images in Photoshop (PDF, 137kb), which gives a step-by-step guide on how to colour correct your images in Photoshop. If you wish to use this option you will need version 3.3.3 of Quickprint (further information please contact Typetec at + 353 1 500 9000). Typetec can organise colour management training courses for your staff if required.
  • Option 2. If you are not confident that you can undertake this work, we recommend that you use a repro/process house, costs to be borne by the advertiser or the agency.
  • Option 3. You may transmit your file in RGB format and our colour profile will be applied within Quickcut. All files must be soft-proofed in Quickprint using our colour profile before transmission.
  • The Irish Times does not offer a proofing service, if you require proofs of your advertisement we recommend you contact a repro/process house. Comparison calibrated colour proofs may be supplied to CityWest (see section on Design specifications and recommendations for further details).
Repro/Process Houses:
  • You have the option, for both mono and colour copy, to send your ad via any reputable repro/process house. Although it is not essential for copy to come through these companies, they generally have in-depth knowledge of the newsprint industry, and will help you to get the best possible reproduction from your copy.
  • Please contact your preferred repro house for details of options and costs for supplying and transmitting copy. Under these circumstances, the repro house is acting as your agent. The Copycontrol department at The Irish Times can supply you with names of repro houses if you have difficulty locating one.
