GARNISH ISLAND This tiny island was transformed from a wild blustery isle of uniform green into an artificial Italian idyll almost 100 years ago by Harold Peto. The flower beds are a riot of colour and much of the exotic flora was imported by him and had never before been seen in Ireland. The ornamental pools and palladian-style gardens are much in contrast with the natural beauty of the region. |
