Ireland is world renowned for its great literary tradition. Wilde, Beckett, Joyce, Shaw and Swift are just a small few of the many literary greats who have traversed the streets of Dublin. Anyone who wishes to explore the city’s rich literary heritage should pop into the Dublin’s Writers Museum.
A collection of books, letters, portraits and personal items illustrate the lives of Dublin’s famous writers from the past 300 years. From milestones to odd anecdotes, the museum provides an extensive array of information on Irish writers and their works. Digital audio guides and guided tours for groups are available.
The museum is housed in a restored Georgian mansion on Parnell Square in Dublin. This stunning building itself is well worth a visit. It is also home to the Chapterhouse Café, where visitors can pop in for a cup of tea or a full lunch.
