The Art Walk
New Art-Fair at The Liffey Boardwalk Launched

200 artists to exhibit their work at the Liffey Boardwalk this summer
The Liffey Boardwalk between the Ha’penny Bridge and O’Connell Bridge is being transformed into THE ART WALK, an open air art-fair, organised by the North Dublin Student & Artists League, made possible by a grant from Dublin Port Company and supported by many others.
The Boardwalk was thronged with city dwellers and tourists enjoying the first day of the new art-fair, The ARTWALK. On show was the work of eighteen artists, with varying forms of artwork on display from oil on canvas to modern photography.
Up to 200 participants including established artists, up-and-coming artists and student artists from a number of art colleges will exhibit their work at THE ART WALK this summer. With 18 different artists showcased every weekend, the exhibition will be continuously evolving with a wide range of art on display.
THE ART WALK will run throughout the summer, every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. The event is open to the general public and is free.
Guest of honour Mary Davis, Chairwoman of the Taskforce for Active Citizenship officially opened the event. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mary Davis said “The ARTWALK art-fair is a great example of what people can achieve when they work together to contribute to their community. The art-fair presents a fantastic opportunity for so many artists to have their work exhibited and enjoyed by the public and brings a great sense of community to the area.”
Martin Beirne, Director of Operations, THE ART WALK said “Our mission is to bring art to the people in an open and accessible way for all to enjoy. THE ART WALK is a positive and vibrant initiative for the area and gives over 200 artists the opportunity to exhibit, share and sell their work. We very much welcome interest from all artists who would like to participate in the art-fair”
Seamus McLoughlin, Head of Operations, Dublin Port Company said “Dublin Port is an integral part of Dublin city life and we want to contribute positively to the lives of Dubliners. We have a strong history of supporting artists in the area and are delighted to sponsor THE ART WALK which will re-energise the boardwalk area for the summer.”
North Dublin Student & Artists League (NDSAL) is a not-for profit organisation operating THE ART WALK. NDSAL is dedicated to bringing art and emerging artists into the public life of Dublin. For artists to register their interest in exhibiting at THE ART WALK email martinbeirne@gmail.com.
