5 of the best food markets in Ireland

A nation chock-full of green fields, well fed cattle, fresh vegetables and nutritious brown soil, Ireland is surprisingly lacking in any real foodie heritage. Yes, we’ve got stew, coddle, Guinness and oysters and a few native dishes, but until recently, European neighbours like Germany, Italy and France have put us to shame in the foodie stakes, and even small countries whom we can compete with, Switzerland, Denmark, etc., have been seen as foodie destinations above our fair island. That’s all changing however, and with the opening of numerous brilliant restaurants across the whole country, plenty of innovation from Bord Bia, consumer interest in local produce and a reawakening of our history, Ireland is now a western European foodie destination to rival any other. Here are five of the very best food markets and food halls in Ireland. Do make it your business to visit at least one of them!
