Bomb on boat kills Lord Mountbatten
THE world has reacted with horror and outrage to the killing of Lord Louis Mountbatten yesterday when his boat was destroyed by a bomb off the Co Sligo coast. President Hillery and the Taoiseach, Mr Lynch, have condemned the murder; the Government of India has declared a week’s mourning, and in Washington the United States Government said it was deeply saddened by the tragic death. Senator Edward Kennedy issued a statement calling for an end to senseless violence and brutal acts.
