NOTICE: - I, Mary Kathleen Sweeny, of 21 Henry-street (48 years in it, only one person longer in it) most respectfully request the public not to believe that I am going to leave my home, or that anyone has, or ever had, anything to do with my house; and also not to believe that I am out of my mind, or ever was, as has been reported. When an unparalleled conspiracy and persecution commenced in 1851, and deeply concerning leaseholders, ratepayers, life, liberty and property are known, I trust I will be pardoned for intruding on the public which is caused by my awful position. From Saturday, March 5th, 1877

W. & A. Gilbey have for many years lost no opportunity of urging the advantages to be derived from the consumption of Light Natural Wines as beverages, and they have recently seen with satisfaction therefore, that both the Press and the Medical Profession lose no opportunity of recommending these Wines from a medical and temperance point of view. The result is shown by increased consumption, which last year amounted to 6,188,031 gallons against 3,502,451 gallons only in the previous year, or an increase of upwards of one and a half million gallons in a single year.
The stores erected at Chateau Loudenne in the Medoc by W. and A. Gilbey, with the adjoining buildings, form one of the most striking objects on the Gironde. They contain upwards of 10,000 hogsheads, and are of a magnitude and completeness not hitherto attempted in a wine-producing country; while by this arrangement W. and A. Gilbey have placed the English consumer in a better position than even the inhabitants of Paris, or any of the larger towns of France, for procuring pure, genuine, and moderate-priced Clarets.
