As part of the group exhibition, digital_self, hosted at the museum’s Project Spaces, IMMA will host an artist talk by Theresa Nanigian. Nanigian’s project from 2014, not sorry, is one of the works featured in digital_self.
Consisting of large-scale photographs and text plaques, not sorry is an intimate portrait of a young Irish person and the private spaces of their bedroom, particularly pertinent in the internet age where so much of what was previously private space is now made public. The text accompanying the photography is drawn from candid survey responses from young people that Nanigian has collected.
Originally from the US, Nanigian worked as a business consultant before she changed direction mid-career and decided to study art in Dublin, where her partner is from. She has since built up an impressive resumé of high-profile exhibitions and thought-provoking work.
