Of course we’ll say
céad míle fáilte (one hundred thousands welcomes in Gaelic) when you arrive in Ireland. But just after that, we’ll probably ask you for your passport. There are different requirements for different nationalities so here’s what you need to know when visiting Ireland from South Africa.
To enter the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, you need a valid passport. Always check what form of ID is required with your individual airline, ferry company or travel agent before travelling.
People who have a valid South Africa passport
do not require a visa to enter the Republic of Ireland. South African passport holders do require a visa for visiting Northern Ireland. Embassies & High Commissions
