A beautiful ancient woodland - rich in both history and wildlife

Drumlamph Wood consists of a mix of habitats. Step out, and step back in time, to explore the 17 hectare (42 acre) ancient wood. This is one of Northern Ireland’s rare and irreplaceable ancient woodlands (that’s land continuously wooded since at least 1600). The old woodland has seen centuries come and go, escaping the demand in the 1700s for timber for ships and for building. It is buffered by rush meadow and wetland, with recently planted woodland in the fields further north. All habitats – the old and new - collectively make up 31.5 hectares (78 acres).
