Walking festival designed to suit all levels of walkers with a choice of at least three walks of different grades each day, and a guided cycle on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Leenane Mountain Walking Festival, now in its 6th year, is designed to suit all levels of walkers from casual low level walkers to the more experienced. Each day there is a choice of at least three walks of different grades, and there is also a guided cycle on both Saturday and Sunday.
This year the programme includes the Mweelrea route, a firm favourite, as well as two new walks - one with Ben Corbettte to Kylemore; and a nature walk around the new Delphi trails. Michael Gibbons is back by popular demand with his historical walk on Sunday. Each walk is guided by qualified, experienced guides and covered by public insurance.
Another unique element of the festival is the involvement of local farmers who help guide the walks and share their vast knowledge, folklore and history of the land. They also kindly grant the participants permission to cross their lands and visit areas that are not normally open to the public. Transport to and from starting and finishing points will be provided as well as tea/coffee and scones at various local businesses at the end of each day.
