Lárionad an Droichid is a modern, multi-award winning art and music venue.
Lárionad an Droichid is a modern, multi-award winning, purpose built, cultural centre boasting a state of the art music and arts venue, exhibition space and community facility.
In 2007 to 2008 An Droichead welcomed more than 4,000 people through its doors. In addition to the provision of Irish language classes from beginner to advanced levels, the centre is widely recognised as one of Ireland’s premier traditional music venues, regularly playing host to the cream of talent from Ireland and Scotland. As an integral part of An Droichead’s events programme, they host art and craft exhibitions, lectures, and workshops in traditional arts and crafts. The workshops cover diverse traditional skills such as bog oak carving, basket making, pottery, Celtic art, Celtic jewellery making, singing, dance and traditional music skills.
The centre shares the grounds with their sister project Scoil an Droichid providing Irish Medium education for 150 children at nursery, pre-school and primary levels. Recently awarded 'Best Irish Language & Cultural Project in Ireland' by Glór na nGael, it is the aim of An Droichead to remain at the top in its provision of Irish language and cultural arts. The 'Lárionad' (cultural centre) was also recently awarded for its contribution to modern design by the Civic Trust.
