North Wing, Main Quadrangle, University College Cork,
UCC Visitor's Centre is located at the heart of the main campus of UCC. It is the main information centre in the University, the starting point for regular walking tours at the university and it also sells a wide range of UCC merchandise.
Join JP Quinn UCC Walking Tours for a cultural and historical tour of the University. A guided tour includes a visit to the Aula Maxima, the Ogam Stones Corridor, the Main Quadrangle and the refurbished Crawford Observatory. Come learn how from its origins as Queen College Cork UCC has grown to become a world class University and The Sunday Times University of the year for 2016. Tours run Monday to Friday at 3pm and 12 noon on Saturdays between February and October. All tours are in English and last approximately 70 minutes.
In addition to these walking tours, from May 9th to September 30th George Boole Interactive tours will run every Friday at 3pm and Saturdays at 12 Noon. The George Boole tour is an interactive tour with actors portraying characters from the University’s history. There are many experts on George Boole, but who better than the man himself to bring the past to life and transport us to 1849 to guide us through the history of UCC and his own relationship with the college. Hear Boole explain why he came to Cork, talk about his time here and his impact on not only the university but also on the worldwide scientific community. You may even meet some of Boole’s friends from the 1840’s who will tell you about their lives in the University.
UCC Visitors’ Centre is located in the centre of the ground floor of the UCC Main Quadrangle, UCC main campus on Western Road.
