The River Ilen is a medium sized spate river located in West Cork. It holds a good stock of spring salmon and the best period is usually in April and May. It is 21 miles long with numerous tributaries which drain an area of seven square miles.
The River Ilen is located in West Cork and is best fished from the town of Skibbereen. The lower reaches of the river provide good sea trout angling especially in April and May.
Local enquiries will provide current details on the availability of day permits for both salmon and sea trout angling.
The season for salmon starts 1 February to 30 September and the sea trout season runs from 1 February until 12 October.
