Film festival with screenings, workshops, master classes, 48 Hour Short Film Challenge, the 'Francie' Awards, live music nightly and short film competitions.
Clones Film Festival will take place in various venues around Clones town, including the old post office, (now Clones Art Studios), the newly restored Clones courthouse and the Cinemobile.
The programme consists of 4 to 5 screening slots per day with the target audience as diverse as the films to be shown. The festival will once again host workshops for post primary schools and master classes for film students and filmmakers. The Short Film Challenge will see teams of filmmakers have 48 hours to write, film, edit and screen their own short movie, involving audience members in casting, location and other supportive roles.
The 'Francie' Awards will be held on closing night with the Audience Award and Jury Award for best short film made during the 48 Hour Short Film Challenge. Other events include live music nightly at the Festival Club and documentary and drama short film competitions which attract many up and coming filmmakers.
Clones Film Festival contributes to a vibrant and sustainable arts profile in the region, which otherwise has limited access to this type of artistic activity. It supports up and coming filmmakers and artists by providing a showcase for their work. Active audience participation is a vital and growing component of the festival at workshops and discussions but also in the 48 Hour Short Film Challenge in casting, location and other supportive roles.
