11 Patrick’s Court, Patricks Street, Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland
Ireland's premier and oldest multi-disciplinary arts festival offering 10 days of the best of Irish and international theatre, music, film, craft, dance, literature, visual arts, and street & children's events.
For over forty years, Kilkenny Arts Festival has brought some of the world's greatest artists to the beautiful and intimate surroundings of Ireland's medieval city, including Victoria de Los Angeles, Peter Brook, Seamus Heaney, Robert Lowell, Steven Isserlis, Jordi Savall, Nigel Kennedy, Joshua Bell and Dawn Upshaw among many others.
Join us this August and encounter extraordinary artists and unique collaborations in the magical ancient buildings and gardens of Kilkenny, voted by Condé Nast Traveller in 2013 as Europe's friendliest city. Kilkenny City is located in the South-East of Ireland. In 2009 the City of Kilkenny celebrated its 400th year since the granting of city status in 1609.
Kilkenny's heritage is evident in the city and environs including the historic buildings such as Kilkenny Castle, St Canice's Cathedral, Rothe House, Black Abbey, St Mary's Cathedral and St John's Priory. Kilkenny Arts Festival makes use of the historic buildings that stage many of the events. Join us for a programme of powerful world premières, international theatre, specially commissioned shows and world-class music in Kilkenny, Ireland from 8 – 17 August 2014.
