Meath Eco Tours offers an engaging and educational experience combined with a relaxing ramble in the great outdoors. Learn about Ireland's flora and fauna, history and folklore with a guided walk through the heritage landscapes of County Meath.

Tours include identification of Irish flora and fauna, learning about plant folklore and the history of the surrounding area as well as learning about Irish culture and heritage through nature. At present we offer 3 walks in bog, river and woodland habitats in the beautiful countryside of County Meath. With an experienced guide leading the way, your walk is a relaxing experience where time flies by as you learn about the natural world around you.

Tailored walks are offered, for all kinds of groups and individuals, children and adults. The Girley Bog walk is especially popular. Discover the wonderful world of a typical Irish raised bog, a rare and unique habitat of worldwide importance. Butterflies, iridescent blue dragonflies and wild orchids are just some of the wildlife to be seen in the Summer months, as well as bog cotton and round leaved sundew, a native insect-eating plant. Learn how bogs are formed and why it is so important to conserve them. Forage for bilberries, raspberries and strawberries along the way. All walks can be combined with a walking tour of Kells Heritage Town conducted by The Book of Kells Experience. Special price €5.00.

Girley Bog is situated 5 miles from Kells, a vibrant town in the Boyne Valley with a great selection of accommodation options, pubs and restaurants, as well as a rich and ancient history. Historical sites include the Round Tower, Celtic Crosses and St. Columcille’s House, which were part of the old monastic settlement. Golfing and Angling are popular activities in the area.
