Visitors to Jerpoint Park can experience country pursuits in a unique heritage setting. From sheep dog demonstrations to fishing for salmon and trout on the River Nore,there is something to keep the whole family entertained.
Explore nature at historic Jerpoint Park and get a true feel for its varied flora and fauna. Witness the peace and tranquility of the rural setting with its many old oaks, chestnuts, lime and beech trees.
Discover the many variations of wildlife species that live on the River Nore and the Little Arrigle River and check out the special area of conservation on the river bank.
Why not avail of the park's Tracker Pack? It provides a great family adventure with all of the necessary tools to unearth nature including binoculars, a compass and a magnifying glass.
Sheep dog demonstration with sheep or geese is a fun and fascinating event to watch as it shows man and dog work together as one – herding.
Wild salmon and wild brown trout fishing are also on offer for the more experienced fishermen.
Angling: Fishing in Kilkenny at Jerpoint Park on the River Nore for wild Salmon and wild Brown Trout which is situated downstream from Mount Juliet, and up stream from Thomastown. The water is 2 km of single bank fishing with good fly water and pools. Fly and spinners are allowed but no shrimp, prawns or worms.
Season starts on 17th March and ends on 30th September. Five fish per rod in the season is allowed on the River Nore.
Fishing rods and tackle are available for hire. Tuition with an experienced gillie can be arranged but must be pre-booked.
