St Patrick's Weekend 2013 will see an amazing gathering of traditional musicians and dancers from at home and abroad, in Kilkenny's vibrant medieval city. TradFest Kilkenny will present a 4 day festival with the active participation of local pubs, cafes, hotels who will each host traditional music groups throughout the four days & nights. Energising the city with quality traditional music and dance is sure to provide visitors with a memorable 'Gathering' experience.
As well as a multitude of individual music gigs in unique venues, it is intended to programme at least two major traditional acts at venues like 'The Hub' and 'Watergate' Theatre. Master-classes in fiddle, flute, banjo, accordion and whistle will take place with well-known artists and a major ceilí under the shadow of Kilkenny Castle on The Parade will be organised with a well-known Céilí Band. Sean-nós dancing workshops and set-dancing workshop will also take place. All visiting musicians and dancers will be invited to participate in the 2013 St Patrick's Day Parade marching through the city under their adopted country's banner escorted by one of Kilkenny's GAA clubs (juvenile members dressed in club colours)
