Take the Killorglin, N72 Ring of Kerry road west of Killarney for 7km until you come to Beaufort Bridge, turn left over the bridge and continue for 600m, you will find the traditional Beaufort Bar and Restaurant on your left.

Located within a stone's throw of the Gap of Dunloe and the River Laune fishery, the Beaufort Bar and restaurant appears, in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings, and is the ideal retreat after a day of touring or outdoor activity. The handcrafted natural woods and open log fires combine to make this traditional bar and restaurant more intimate. The Bar is licensed since 1841 and has been in the hands of the O'Sullivan family since the beginning, the current owners being the fourth generation of O'Sullivan's.
Since the Restaurant at the Beaufort Bar opened several years ago it has developed a first-class reputation, due in large part to meticulous attention to detail, friendly service and excellent cuisine. Surroundings are in keeping with the rest of the bar, including timber roof beams and tables, stone fireplace and Douglas Fir floors, all adding to the unique ambience of the restaurant.
Executive chef, Timmy Brosnan, trained in the famous Rockwell College and has worked in many exclusive local hotels before joining the Beaufort Restaurant, bringing with him his extensive culinary experience. He is joined by Restaurant Manager Assumpta Dempsey, who trained in the London Hilton and also has extensive hotel and restaurant experience under her belt. Between them they manage to hit just the right note in terms of menu and atmosphere.
On the menu, choose from starters such as prawns, tagliatelle and Aghadoe black pudding, and from main courses such as rack of Kerry lamb, steak, scallops or Kerry seafood platter, to single out just a few dishes. Vegetarian options are also always available.
The extensive wine list runs to 60 varieties and includes some very popular choices including the Shiraz Bin 555 from the Wyndham Estate in Australia and the Cabernet Sauvignon Montes from Chile. A recent discovery was the Chateau de Beaufort from France.
If your taste runs to fine malt whiskeys or liqueurs there is a varied and interesting selection to choose form, more than one hundred whiskies and great Irish Coffee.
In the early years of the twentieth century, Beaufort became home to a thriving film industry when the Kalem Film Company of America decided to use the Beaufort Bar as their base for four seasons of filming between the years of 1911 and 1914. During this period, over seventy feature films were produced, by the Kalem Film Company, each of about 20minutes duration. The Bar has a collection of still images from the Kalem movies which adorn the walls of both the Bar and the Restaurant, evoking an exciting chapter of Beaufort's history, and uniquely illustrating what the village and surrounding area looked like in times gone by.
